Sound Gear

Sound System:

This system is loud enough for at least 200 people. It is designed to handle recent bass heavy music. If I am playing less bass intensive music such as Rock n Roll and excessive volume is of concern, the system operates very well without the subwoofers. I will listen to your instructions for how loud you want the music. For some parties, such as 21st parties, loud is good, louder is better. My system can go very loud. For others, such as weddings and 50ths, it may be preferable that the guests can talk at the tables over the music. This is entirely your choice. The monitor speakers can be used in a second area such as a deck outside, behind the head table for speeches, or be used by a guitarist or band as monitors. They also serve as a backup for the main speakers.

Microphones:

The Handheld wireless Microphone is excellent for speeches and can be easily passed around between guests. The lapel microphone is useful for speaking handsfree and can also be used for connecting guitars wirelessly.

Mixers:

I have one Mixer (Mixing desk) for DJing and one for mixing small to medium sized bands with up to 9 instrument or Microphone inputs.

I use a Dell R210 Server computer running Virtual DJ and Freestyler DMX to play music and music videos and to control lights. I use an EKS Otus controller which has a platter on top that operates similar to a record on a turntable allowing me to beatmatch or beatsynch music and music videos together non-stop so that the crowd can keep dancing from one track to the next.
I carry a Mobile internet card which I can use to download any requests I may not already have.
I also have a laptop containing my music and lighting software as a backup to the server. The components in my sound system act to backup each other. In the unlikely event of equipment failure, I can continue to play and beatmatch music should any one component fail.

Lighting

My entire lighting system is computer controlled giving a great amount of flexibility in the effects that can be produced. I run Freestyler software on a Dell R210 Rack Server and a DMX interface to control a wide range of effects from the computer.

Moving head lights

Moving heads change colour and turn around in time with the music. They can also be used to spotlight people, for instance cutting a cake. They move around so they can be used to follow a person walking around.
See the photo on the right - The light which flashes Red and Yellow is one of my moving head lights pointed directly at the camera. Haze in the room makes the beams show up.

LED lights

Lasers

Lasers create beams and lines of red and green light eminating from the laser. Lasers are especially effective when used with Haze or Fog because the laser beams only show in Haze or Fog. Without Haze, Lasers only show patterns on the walls.

1500W Strobe - incredibly bright white flashing light. Generates stop-motion style effects on dancers. This effect is best used in moderation.

Colour changing floodlight - a bright coloured light which can be Red, Green or Blue and fade between colours.

Par64 Stage lights - provide an intensely bright spot light on an object, person speaking or stage. These can also be coloured.

400W UV cannon - a powerful Ultraviolet light which is invisible but lights up anything white in a bright blue and shows fluorescent colours brightly. Note that the black light is only effective in a very dark room.

3 Meter long truss with tripod stands at either end to support the lights with the projector screen suspended in the center. I can project directly onto the screen or rear-project from behind the screen meaning that people walking or dancing in front of the screen is not a problem.

T Bar - holds the mirror ball at a distance from the lights and can also hold other lights.

Fog Machine and Hazer - Shows up the beams of the lights and makes the effects 3D. Note that the Fog Machine is capable of setting off smoke detectors. Any monitored smoke alarm systems need to be isolated in order to use the fog machine.

'Visuals

Visuals

I have a large library of Music Videos, Projector and 3 meter wide screen which adds another element to the performance. I can also play Power point slideshows, Photo slideshows and DVD Videos on the big screen. For songs that don't have a music video, or when another DJ is playing, I can play music controlled visualisations onto the screen. I also have a wireless camera which I can use to play live video of your guests dancing onto the big screen.
