Craig Hughes

I started out with a laptop and a hired sound system about 4 years ago doing parties for mates. Since then I have progressively improved my system and have played at 18ths, 21sts, 30ths, 50ths, weddings and more. When I got Turntables, I learnt to beatmatch Rock n Roll because that's what I had lying around home. Then I moved onto playing recent Dance music and upgraded to the Turntable controlled laptop so that I can play and beatmatch almost anything.

I'm known as DJ Conductor for Public activities. I am as much at home playing Rock n Roll, 60s, 70s, 80s, etc to an older crowd as I am playing recent Pop, House, Electro, Dubstep, etc to a younger crowd. At some of the most fun parties I have played at, I have played 90s music to a crowd who grew up in the 90s like myself. At other events have played alongside bands. I can match or compliment the music style of a band and keep the crowd on the dancefloor during band breaks. I am also a capable Band Sound Technician and can mix levels for a band's microphones, guitars, keyboards, drums, etc.

I read the crowd and adjust the music selection accordingly, taking into account your brief. I like to build a playlist with your input prior to your event and can either stick completely to your playlist or, with your appproval, play other music for the crowd. In either case, having a playlist in advance makes sure I know what you want to hear on the night.

By day, I work as a Service Technician for Critical Power Management, Security, CCTV, Nurse Call and Air Conditioning systems and I bring the concepts for dealing with critical systems to my DJing. Continuous music for your entire event is my top priority.
The components in my system are capable of backing up other components in the system, so in the rare event of equipment failure, I can keep playing. I run a rack mount server as my main computer with a Dell XPS laptop as a hot backup. I can use the computer alone to play beatmatched music continuously in case of failure of my Controller or Mixer. My aplifiers consist of a Quality Crown XTI4000 and an XTI2000 which handle the crossover and Equaliser internally. In the event of a failure of either amp I can easily reconfigure the other amp to run the main speakers and subwoofers in mono. I carry a pair of 10" speakers which serve as a backup in case of a failure of both main speakers and can also be used by the head table for speeches, music in another room or outside or as DJ monitor speakers.

I look forward to the challenge of tailoring my system and performance to perfectly fit your event.
